Obviously, these are not all the Scriptures that reveal God’s heart… there are far too many of them for me to include them all here but these are, at least, a good sampling. I’ve also provided some Scriptures that you can look up for yourself in your own Bible. If you don’t have a Bible, there are many online ones. My personal favorite is at www.biblegateway.com because I can also read different versions.
My personal Bibles at home are many. My favorites are the King James Version AND the Amplified Version. When I post on Spark, I usually reference the Amplified. Additionally, I use the New Living Translation, the Message, and a few more obscure versions I found at book sales – the Moffat version, Wuest, and so many others. I don’t read them all every day but when I have my personal Bible study, I will frequently bring them all out on my table and do comparisons and research. It is exciting for me to dig into the Word of God this way! He is so awesome, and He has been so good and so wonderful to me, that I just want to know more and more about Him, and about what He has to say to me from His Word. Additionally, His Word is powerful - it brings me peace and comfort, and it brings His power into my situations.
Personal Tip: As I take God’s Word into my heart, it is also one of the ways I recognize His voice in my heart and my spirit. When God speaks a word to you in your spirit,
it will never disagree with His written Word.
So if you hear a voice telling you to do things you KNOW are wrong - like hurt someone else or hurt yourself, or you hear thoughts in your mind condemning you, telling you that you are worthless and nobody loves you – THAT’S NOT GOD! That is Satan, and you can choose to believe he doesn’t exist but that won’t stop him from his machinations against you. God, however, loves you, even if you’re living in a mess right now of your own making. God’s heart and desire is to embrace you first and let you know you are overwhelmingly loved, and then it is His desire to heal and deliver you, and to make you whole. (This paragraph was a last minute addition from Holy Spirit so somebody out there must need to hear it.)
Here are some Scriptures to get you started…as you read, ask the Lord to help you understand His heart behind each word and verse. In a few, I've added some notes from
research on the Hebrew or Greek meanings behind the words/verses. Feel free to
share WITH ME some of your favorites too!
